Hey there! Today, I am going to share the before & after of the country chic cobblestone hutch in our living room. I am completely in love with it and it was so easy to transform.
Here is the before:
I apologize for all of the random junk stored inside of it…eek, perhaps I should have removed that before the pic was taken. We were organizing some stuff in the basement and I had set a bunch of things inside it temporarily.
…this hutch is massive and I pulled a couple of muscles moving this beast downstairs. Note to self…keep it in the garage until ready to paint next time! Remember that!
The hutch was a Craigslist find for $100. Such a steal! It already had been painted a mustard-like faux finish. This was totally not my style, but it had good bones and great details, like these round swirl wood knobs. The hutch also came with the cutest little skeleton key for opening the glass doors on the top and the wood doors on the bottom sides. Tons of storage for movies and blankets.
To start, I wanted to create a more open and airy feel. So, I made the decision to remove the doors on the top. No worries, I have repurposed them into wall art for another space in my home and will be sharing that tutorial soon! I loved the details of the doors, but I wanted a better space to display my white dish collection. The doors just seemed to hide the objects and you couldn’t see all the prettiness inside.
Once the doors were off, I filled in the hardware holes with wood filler and let dry. Once dry, just use a sanding block until smooth. Now is the fun part…transforming the piece with Country Chic Cobblestone.
I am currently obsessed with gray and white, so I knew this medium tone gray would be perfect to contrast with my white decor pieces.
I have used quite a few different brands of paint to transform furniture. I have to say, I love how Country Chic paint goes on. It is smooth and buttery. It is very easy to apply and I was so pleased that it dried fast! Once I got a first coat one, I was ready to begin the second. Yay! What a time saver.
Once the second coat was dry, it was just as easy to seal the paint and style the shelves like a pro!
And here is my finished country chic cobblestone hutch. We now have it in the living room and it is the perfect focal point.
