Welcome to Dandelion Patina!
I am so glad you are here! I look forward to getting to know you better and having you be part of the Dandelion Patina community.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Michelle Lepak. I am a born and raised Wisconsinite. I am a mom of two beautiful tween daughters who give me a run for my money each and every day. It must be pay back for all my rebellious high school years. Man, did I put my parents through some stressful times. But, those challenges only make a person stronger! Right?
I am married to a wonderful guy who attempts to make me happy in every way he can. He is such a handy guy, and I couldn’t do most of the projects I do without his mad skills and handy work. So, this blog is as much his as it is mine. He is the muscle (and the math) behind it all. I am so thankful for him.
This virtual space was started as a creative outlet for me when the girls were tiny tots. I was feeling like I was losing myself in all the dirty diapers, housework, and complete exhaustion. I tried my hand at refurbishing vintage furniture and selling pieces. But, I just couldn’t balance life and such a time consuming business.
After that learning experience, I started a blog which was harder than I anticipated. I was consumed by trying to create projects that I thought readers would like rather than blogging about what I loved. I was focusing all my efforts into what my page views were, increasing my followers on social media platforms, and being “noticed”. My authentic self was not shining through.
So, I took a break from it all… a rather long break of over a year. I learned about myself more and what I loved. It is all about perspective, and sometimes it takes us longer to find that perspective. And, I truly believed I did the right thing for my family and myself.
In the meantime, I took a job working as a paraprofessional, received my certification in special education. I now have transitioned into being a full-time student at UW-Stout. I am currently working towards my degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I will then continue on to pursue my masters degree in special education. I love working with children. And, I hope to be an advocate for what each of them need emotionally and academically.
This space will constantly be changing along with my family and style. I now feel like I have found what I love about my home and life. I will be posting about cultivating a good life from my perspective. There will be lifestyle posts containing do-it-yourself projects, recipes, gardening, fashion. As well as, interior home decor and our latest travel experiences.
Oh…and raising these strong wildflowers. Man, they are dandelion weed strong!
I hope you will follow along with me on my journey. I also will be posting on Instagram each day. So, if you have an Instagram account I would love for you to be part of my community there.
